In Vedic astrology, timing is everything. There’s a season for everything, as the Book of Ecclesiastes so beautifully reminds us. But how much weight do we actually give to timing in our everyday lives? Should we wait for the “perfect” moment for everything?
When I began my coaching practice, my very first client was me. As in all things, awareness comes first. We can’t make the right moves if we’re not even aware of what needs moving.
One pattern I became deeply aware of was my own struggle with analysis paralysis—that need to make everything perfect before I could take action. I had mentors who would tell me, “Just start. Post something. A reel a day. You’ll get better with time.” But my inner critic had other plans. I’d tell myself: “It’s not quite right yet. I need the perfect idea. The perfect script. The perfect timing.” And before I knew it, days had passed. Still no reel. Still waiting for that elusive perfection.

I once had a vision that hit me hard and stayed with me. I saw a ship, and I understood its message instantly. I was steering it in the right direction—but it was completely still. Then wisdom whispered: The ship needs to move first. Only then can it be steered.
That moment changed me.
We often get so obsessed with certainty—needing to know exactly where we’re going and how we’ll get there—that we don’t move at all. But in truth, movement creates momentum. You don’t need a perfect plan. You need to launch. Once the ship is moving, you can always adjust the course.
If you find yourself stuck in overthinking or perfectionism, here are a few reflective questions that may help:
What do I really want?
Is life asking me to focus only on the next small step?
What am I waiting for?
What does failure actually mean to me?
You don’t need all the answers before you begin. Sometimes, the answers reveal themselves in motion, not in stillness.
