A Simple Exercise to Practice Your Intuition (That Actually Works)

Here’s something I do when I’m genuinely torn between two things I both really want.

I assign each choice to one of my hands. Then I pick up two objects of similar weight — one in each hand — and I set an intention: whichever feels heavier is my answer.

Carry Both on Each Hand.. and feel

Then I just… feel.

It sounds simple. Almost too simple. But that’s kind of the point.

When you’ve already done your homework — made the pros and cons list, thought it through logically, weighed the options with your mind — sometimes the mind is just done. It’s exhausted. It’s going in circles. And in that space, the body can step in.

The slight heaviness in one hand. A subtle pull. A stillness on one side and a kind of quiet resistance on the other. Your conscious mind didn’t manufacture that. Something deeper did.

This is what I love about pairing intuition with logic. You don’t have to choose between them. Do the intellectual work first — that’s important, and it matters. But when you’ve hit the ceiling of what thinking can do, let your body have a turn.

That’s not irrational. That’s actually quite wise.

And the more you practice exercises like this — noticing what your body does, checking whether it was right, refining your ability to read the signal — the more you’ll trust it. Not blindly, but with the kind of quiet confidence that comes from actually knowing yourself.
